Is this not the cutest little costume you’ve ever seen? I found it at Party City and I’m thinking of getting it for Amelia for Halloween this year. I think she would look so adorable in it.
We don’t plan on taking her trick-or-treating this year. I think she’s too little and I’d rather wait till she can understand and enjoy it. Plus, she can’t eat any of the candy anyway. So I’m just going to dress her up for daycare. I’ve been browsing the internet for costume ideas and came across the one above. So far, it’s my favorite, but I’m still going to look around some more. I want something non-traditional. All the little kids dress up as a pumpkin or a witch and I want her to be somewhat unique.
I was thinking Dorothy…it would be cute, obvious what she’s dressed up as, yet simple so she’s not suffocating in a costume. But I haven’t had any luck finding a Dorothy dress in her size. Another problem we have is that I have no idea what the weather will be like. Right now the high has been in the 80/90s, but in another month, that could change and easily be in the 50s. So that makes it a little difficult to plan ahead. I know last year at this time it was still in the 80s, but by the time Amelia was born it was in the 60/70s so there really is no telling what the weather will be like in another month.
I think this little tulip dress would be fine because if it’s cool, she can wear a sweater over it, but if it’s anything like now, she won’t need anything else.

Our washer has died. Yesterday we went to Atlanta for the day to see my family and we left a load of clothes washing. We left at 7:30am. When we got home 12 hours later, the machine was still spinning!!! Yeah. Not good.
Don’t know what happened to it, but it has been good to us for 5 years. I’m sure they last longer than that (the before that lasted 20-something years), so now we have to figure out what’s wrong with it and get it fixed or get a new one. I guess it depends on what’s wrong how much it will cost to fix. Thank goodness we’d finished washing all the laundry for the week.
I’ll have to do some of Amelia’s clothes by hand, but that’s not too big a deal. Just a few onsies for her to sleep in this week. She’s got clean clothes to wear to daycare. The issue will be when we need to wash clothes again in another week or so.

I’ve never really had a problem of trying to find content for my site. I usually have such a simplistic style site that I usually have to cut back on content. Now with my new layout, I’m find I have holes in my sidebar where I need more content. It’s kind of sad.
Of course now that it’s up, I’m not too comfortable with it. It feels too cluttered. Funny how it never felt that way when it was in development, but now that it’s live, it’s a little overwhelming. I have a feeling it may not last too long. Or if it does, it’s only because I’m tired of working on the site and need a break for a while. Ha!
As you can see, I have an empty spot down next to my true mom confessions link. Just not sure what to put there. I may end up taking out the img and replacing the spot with something completely different. Any ideas? More pictures possibly?
So what do you all think? Please be honest, because I really need the critiques. Just don’t be too harsh.

I’m so cuckoo but I guess that’s a typical mom for you. I’m so excited because my daughter ate 1/4 of a grilled cheese sandwich last night. She also ate a whole stick of string cheese. She even ate a little bit of the mac and cheese I gave her the other night.
We’re trying to get her to eat more table foods, so I’m trying some out. And I’m so excited and want to share that with everyone. How nuts am I? My baby ate grilled cheese. So do a lot of babies, but it was her first time and as a first time mom, I’m having a hard time getting over the choking factor so that she can venture into the world of regular people food. So the fact that she ate it and liked it last night is huge to me.
Amelia’s walking so she’s getting into everything and as much of a pain it is to now have to watch her every second, it’s also fun to see her explore.
The other day when I picked her up at daycare she was outside, squatting near the fence inspecting grass. Then she saw me, stood up, walked over to me and gave me a hug. It was a perfect moment. And I basked in it all the way home.
Can you tell I’m enjoying being a mom to an almost 1 year old?

The quality of this picture isn’t the greatest, but it’s one of the best I have. Two days ago, my parents had to put their little dog to sleep. It has been hard on all of us. But it was the best thing to do. Poor Chiqui was 15 years old and was blind, deaf, had rotten teeth and memory issues. The vets think she may have had dementia. She was in really bad shape and my parents felt it was time to give her peace once again.
She was the best little dog I’ve ever known. We got her as a puppy when I was in 11th grade and had been a part of our family ever since. She went everywhere with my parents and was the sweetest thing ever.
She had this funny habit of giving herself away whenever she did something bad. She would sulk from you before you even saw the damage.
Chiqui, I will miss you horribly and I know mom is missing you too, even more than me. I know you will watch out for her just like she always watched out for you.

Amelia got her first ouchie on Saturday. We were hanging out at the lake and she was playing at the coffee table. I guess she lost her footing and fell down.
I thought she had hit her head when she fell so I was holding her rubbing her head and kissing her head. Then I looked down and say her mouth all bloody. It freaked me out a bit, but then I saw the cut on her lip and realized what happened.
My poor baby. In the picture, she’s actually crying because we took away her pacifier to snap the photo. She had already calmed down some, but I had to get a picture of her first ouchie.

I’m working on a re-design of the layout. I’ve decided that for the amount of content I put into each post, it doesn’t make much sense to have a two-column layout like I currently have.
So I’m working on a more modern looking, yet fun design. I really like it, even though I’ve been staring at it for what seems like eons. It’s somewhat colorful, yet techy-looking with the rounded corners that seem to be popping up everywhere. My skills in CSS have definitely been put to the test as I’ve been converting this Photoshop layout to HTML. But I’m close to pushing it out. Right now I’ve loaded it up in the Textpattern install on my Mac, so I can get my templates all set up. Then it’s just a matter of uploading the images and a bit of copy and paste.
I’m also going back to working on a redesign of Amelia’s photo gallery, which has been on hold for a while. I was trying to go for a fluid design but for some reason it’s just not working the way I want, so it might have to be a bit more static. Which is fine, but it means I’ll have to redo some of the CSS. Then I have to finish the pages and the programming since the site uses php and the Flickr API to generate the gallery. Still at a loss as to what the name will be. I’ll have to ask the family and see what they think.

I was driving to work this morning and the sky looked so wicked! It was a typical sunny, bright blue sky morning, but there were some gray clouds hanging around. It was so wild, you could really see the blue sky behind the dark clouds. I don’t think I’ve ever seen that before. It was so cool, I wished I had my camera.

Last night Amelia walked all the way across the dining room by herself!! My baby girl has started walking. She still stumbles a lot on the carpet, but she’s obviously doing very well on hard floors. She had a few stumbles and daddy was right there to catch her and help her get her balance, but she did it all by herself while mommy watched with tears rolling down her face.
It was a very proud moment for us and of course I immediately called the grandparents to share the news.
Just shy of 11 months old (which is less than a week away) and my baby has reached a major milestone. It won’t be long before I start wishing she wasn’t mobile yet.

Keeping secrets is so hard. Especially when you want to shout it to the world.
Yes, I have a secret. And I want to tell everyone, especially those closest to me. But I’ve been asked to keep mum and so I shall.
In other news, we’ve learned that DH’s cousin and his wife are expecting a girl. So this makes the 3rd girl in the 2nd generation of cousins on his side of the family. How exciting!
