How Do You Travel?

Written on February 26, 2007 – 11:42 am

What’s your favorite way to travel? Car, plane, train, boat? What do you do while you’re traveling? (Assuming you’re not the driver!)

We pretty much drive everywhere. We can’t really afford to travel much, so we rarely go anywhere that requires flight. Mainly to visit family and we’re not going to fly when we can drive 9-10 hours and it’s much cheaper. I’m usually not the one driving so I mainly read a book or work on puzzles (sudoku and word searches are popular). If a headache threatens, I will usually keep my husband (driver) company by just chatting with him and we’ll listen to music or comedy (gotta love XM). The past few times, I’ve had to ride in the back with the baby so I can feed her. If we’re traveling at night, I will sleep some so that I can take over driving and let my husband sleep for a while as well.

Traveling with an infant adds a whole new set of challenges, doesn’t it? I can remember when my youngest sister was a baby, my parents had a piece of foam cut to fit in the back of the station wagon. One of us would sleep in the back with her and the other would sleep across the back seat. We didn’t use booster seats or seat belts then. It’s a wonder we didn’t get killed.

Babies are fun to travel with, it’s when they start talking and wanting attention in the car, lots of fun ;-) We did most of our traveling by car too when the kids were real young. Now that we have moved way up north, I’m not sure what we are going to do….

I wish I could figure out the sudoku puzzles. I try them out and then I just mess them up and give up. Eventually maybe someday it will come together for me.

At least if you travel by car you’ve got trasport available when you reach your destination.
