Target Sucks
I’m highly pissed off right now at Target. I did my baby registry with them and have had nothing but problems. I tried to return some items, but you are only allowed to return 2 items in a year without a receipt. They keep track of this with your driver’s license. So like lots of moms, I had to return several packs of diapers because they were the wrong size or brand. Amelia can’t wear Pampers brand. Well, who the hell gives a gift receipt when giving diapers?! No one. So I could only return 2 of the 4 packs, consequently disallowing me to return anything else for the next year! How absurd is this?
So I went today to return some items that I know where showing as purchased on my registry, because as long as it shows purchased on your registry you can return it. You have to print the purchase log though. I went to do that and it turns out there is an expiration date on the darn registry. 90 days, of which I was not aware. So my registry is gone…does not exist and cannot be retreived. Target deletes it completely, like it never existed. I’m once again stuck with items I did not, nor ever will use because I don’t have a receipt (no one gets a receipt for nursing pads either).
Every time I think of this, it pissed me off even more. I will from now on, not be buying anything from Target. All baby needs will be purchased elsewhere. Fortunately there is one other store in town that carries my brand of bottles.
Lesson learned…don’t get a registry from Target, because you know that at least half of what you get won’t be marked off on the registry. Also, if you know someone that has gotten you something at Target, make sure you beg and plead for the gift or original receipt, just in case you ever need to return the item. Because even if it is purchased off the registry, with a new baby in the house, you might not get around to returning the item before the 90 days are up and then you will need that receipt since your registry will become non-existent.
Target is not this new mom’s friend anymore.

That is just rediculous! I used to work for Target several years ago and I hated it. The company is going DOWN HILL. They treat their employees like crap!
I just wanted to tell you to be persistent with Target. The same thing happened to my sister, and she just went back another time and tried another employee and they let her return everything. They gave her a store credit which she had to use that day. Better than getting nothing!
I hope that this comment can stop a mom from using the baby registry at target!!
The target people are looking to get sued soon. Here are the issues I found by using their registry:
1. The registry should have a big disclaimer saying:
If you have a registry with us, you won’t be able to return more than two items per year if you do not have a receipt.
[When I went to return extra stuff from my baby shower I felt humilliated and I felt like I was trying to steal from the store. The woman looked at me like I was a shop lifter].
2. If someone gives you an item that is not part of the registry without a receipt, good luck. You can not exchange it. Same if we have different quantities.
3. I went to return an item that was in the gift registry but they said that the item was in the process of being discontinued and therefore they will not take it back!!
I believe that after I write this message, I will take this to the BBB. This is an unfair business practice.
So, if you do not want to feel like a shop lifter, do not use target for your baby registry.
I am sure that there are stores with better options.

I just posted this complaint with the BBB.
The complaint number is # 57093741.
Complaint Description:
I recently held my baby’s baby shower and selected target.com and target stores for the gift registry. Target return policies are dishonest, mainly if you have a gift registry. When I went to the target website to enroll for the babyshower, they should have displayed the following practices in big letters so mothers like me do not need to face the embarrasment. Here are the issues I found by using their registry: 1. The registry should have a big disclaimer saying: If you have a registry with us, you won’t be able to return more than two items per year if you do not have a receipt. When I went to return extra stuff from my baby shower I felt humilliated and I felt like I was trying to steal from the store. The woman at the customer service desk looked at me like I was a shop lifter. She told me that billions of dollars are lost due to the amount of things that get returned. She said that you already exhausted the two items that you can return for the whole year in front of the big line of people behind me. 2. If someone gives you an item that is NOT part of the registry without a receipt, good luck. You can not exchange it. Perhaps, I need to go through the embarrasment of telling my guess: “I did not like your gift nor I appreciate the fact that you did some extra shopping for me so give me your receipt so I can exchange it!” 3. I went to return an item that was in the gift registry but they said that the item was in the process of being discontinued and therefore they will not take it back!! 4. Your returns are linked to your driver’s license. So, if you are an illegal, you won’t be able to return a product to the store. The store should have big disclaimers at the entrance saying that if you are an illegal, chances are that you can not return your items at target. I would appreciate if the BBB can research these items for me. I already found several disatisfied moms putting this information on internet.
