I was -7.00 yesterday (count fingers at 3 feet) before the lasik procedure. This morning, I went back for my first post-op, and am able to read 20/20.
I am feeling good. No pain. Just a little itching. I have to sleep with the goggles, but around the house, I can take them off. I still can’t use the computer, so my hubby is typing this out for me. I will give more details later in the week.

It’s official. I will be going in to have LASIK surgery tomorrow afternoon. I’m so excited. I had my pre-op yesterday and everything went great. For reference purposes, my current vision (before LASIK) is count fingers at 3 feet. They measure it that way once you go past 20/400. So I’m pretty blind right now without glasses or contacts. I’ll post my new vision after the procedure and let you know how it went.
In other news, I just got a new computer at work. It’s so nice and fast.
It’s a 3GHz P4 with 1GB of RAM and an 80GB hard drive. I’m also running dual 19” flat panel LCD monitors on 128MB of video RAM. It’s running XP Pro and it’s pretty awesome so far.
I just got through installing all the software I need for work and transferring my files from my old machines. Hopefully nothing will mess up when I next start compiling source code. < crossing my fingers />

We’re having XM installed in my new car. We already have it installed in my husband’s truck and have been just moving it between vehicles when we go on trips. No more! I’ll have my own to play with. Can’t wait to start programming my favorite channels.
And yeah…I haven’t had a chance to take a photo of my car yet, but as soon as I do, I’ll post a picture. I have to send one to my family, anyway.

We traded my 2002 Nissan Pathfinder in for a 2004 VW Jetta. Lower monthly payment, better gas mileage, cheaper insurance. It’s silver and I love it.

We went camping this past weekend and had a great time. It was quite cold, but we were all bundled up well and had a really hot fire going to keep us warm. We ate very well. We had a smoked ham and potatoes au gratin Friday night, then Saturday night we had a roast and seasoned potatoes. Very good stuff.
We went on a hike Saturday and met a couple from North Alabama. Later then came to our camp site and hung out with us and ate dinner with us. We had a blast.
Sunday was pretty much wasted. DH slept on the way home, then I took about a 3 hour nap later in the day. Yesterday was nice…relaxing but it wasn’t quite so blah. I didn’t do much knitting but I went to the bookstore and finally used the gift card I got for Christmas. I got 2 books by Anita Shreve and one by Debbie Macomber.

Well, I’m not sure about anything anymore. This past weekend, Friday, DH kept talking about babies. Like my stomach would get bigger as soon as I stop taking the pill, and that I better get LASIK done before he gets me pregnant. And all of this is stuff he brought up on his own, without my encouragement. It started the day before while we were talking about it with a friend. W asked when we were going to have a baby and I said that I’m ready and I think it’s time since I’ll be 30 soon. W said he hated to agree with me, but…and DH said, yeah, I know. Then while we were hanging out with friends on Friday night, there was talk of us making babies and he was all for it. Then, I know he was drunk, but back at the hotel, he wanted to make a baby, but we were too drunk and it felt akward with our friends in the other bed asleep (we shared a hotel room for New Years with some friends). Then Saturday afternoon, before he left to play disc golf, he said that we’d try to make a baby when he got back later that evening. Hmm.
Then Sunday or Monday night, he said he wanted to get busy, but that it would be a bad thing, because it might make a baby. And he hasn’t mentioned anything at all about it, good or bad, since. So I’m just not sure what to think. He kept giving me a lot of signals that he was ready many times throughout the weekend. Then it’s like he was back to his normal self of avoiding the issue. But he hasn’t mentioned anything about me starting back on the pill and I know he is aware that I’m not taking it anymore.
I’m so confused and am afraid to bring it up. Maybe he is avoiding the issue, because I’m so gung-ho about getting LASIK done this month, that maybe he realizes that I can’t get it done if I get pregnant and he’s wanting me to have the surgery first. I’m hoping that’s what it is, because the time he said something about me hurrying up to get it done, I mentioned that they probably wouldn’t do the surgery on a pregnant woman. I have no idea what to think and I don’t want to bring it up. I’ll just let it go for now since I do want to have the LASIK and I know if I got pregnant it would be a year at least before I could consider it again. Let’s hope he gets gung-ho about it again after I have the surgery.

Happy New Year to everyone! We had a great time on New Years Eve. We went to a wedding and reception for some friends and they had a great band playing at the party. It was a lot of fun…they had 3 kegs and tons of wine, so it was an interesting time. We rang in the New Year with beer and dancing.
Saturday was pretty much a dud. I knit and watched tv while my husband slept. Then he got up and went out to play disc golf and I fell asleep for a few hours. But once I got up, I felt so much better. We went to some friends and played Trivia Pursuit (I got the 90s one for Christmas). Slept in yesterday, then went out to play more disc golf and came home to clean house. It was kind of sad to see the holidays end, knowing it’s back to work we go. But I’m glad we’re back to the regular schedule and don’t have to travel everywhere anymore.
I’m looking into getting LASIK sometime in the next few months. After hearing about Lacy’s experience, I’m so ready to get this done. I have an eye appt on Thurday (my annual checkup), so I’m going to wait and see what the doc says about my eyes. I was planning on going to a doctor in FL (about 6 hours away) to get it done, because they had the most reasonable prices, but then I found someone here locally who is equally priced, so I’m going to ask my doc about them. It would be nice to get it done locally so I don’t have to drive that far every few months. Cross your fingers that all goes well and I can get it done this month or next.
