Photons

Friday, October 8th, 2004

A while back there was a game at pogo.com that I was completely addicted to. It was called Photons and the object was to capture all the photons into a box. Each click of the mouse built a wall. If you clicked a wall it would take the wall away. The least amount of clicks would get your the most number of tokens. I didn’t care about the tokens, but my addiction was to see how few clicks it would take me and the key to the game was patience. The photons bounced around the game board, and you have to round them up, so you needed patience to wait till they moved away from that part of the board, then close off that section. Less area for them to scatter to.

Pogo seems to have removed this game from their site. I tried doing a google search to find it elsewhere and I turned up a link to a game review page that referred to it being at iwon.com, but I went there and couldn’t find it. I’ve been wanting to play this game for the past month but haven’t been able to find it. If anyone knows where this game can be found, please let me know.

It used to be that you could visit 5 different online game sites and all would be different games. Now you visit those 5 and they have the exact same set of games. Nothing varies, so instead of visiting the 5 sites and giving each a boost in visitor stats, we now can stick to our 1 favorite site, since every other site will only have the same games. There isn’t any need to venture away from our regular game site.

I’m getting tired of the same old games…Alchemy, Bejeweled, Cubis, Collapse. I want something new and exciting, but I’m not going to find it, since everywhere else I go, I seem to find the same old games. It’s very disappointing. I want Photons!

Feeling Like Fall

Friday, October 1st, 2004

Since it is officially Fall season, I’ve been working on a fall design for this site. I’ve got the template and stylesheet done. It’s just a matter of transferring the working template to my actual MT templates. I’ve just been so lazy that I don’t feel like working on it.

I’m reading this book, “Why Girls are Weird” and it got me thinking about slightly changing the concept of my site, but then I think no, because it won’t stay that way. But then I got to thinking of scaling it down. Every time I get a notion to do something new, I redesign the site and add the new stuff as another “section” of my site. But a few weeks or months later, I lose the interest in it and take it down.

So what I need to do is quit making new “sections” for my site and just keep adding all that content to my regular blog entries and just categorize them. Then I don’t have to keep up with a whole separate part of my site. So to keep with that, I will be redoing part of my site to do just that. New content will just get thrown in with the rest of the entries and it will just be a new category or something. It will be mostly back-end stuff that you may or may not notice. It will come as part of my redesign. Something simple. You know me. I love simple.
