Testing It
Ok. Here is my first post using the new Zempt. I’m testing all the features of course. It may give me some ideas for my own application. Even though Zempt is coming out and looks very promising, I still plan to develop my application and eventually release it.
At first glance, I notice no html color coding. I really like that feature in w.bloggar. The preview does somewhat separate the Extended Portion of your entry. Although this is nice, I would prefer to see it how it will look on the page (without the divider). Has a logout feature which I will have to check out. I like how it displays a status showing you that it is retrieving your blog list, your categories, and your text formatting options. It also gives you a notice that it is publishing your post. I will have to look at that. There isn’t many options for html code. w.bloggar has more html code insert capabilities. I like the idea of having all the extra post options in a separate window, so as to not clutter the screen. There aren’t any options to customize the editor, such as for fonts. It is a really small font and I’d like to see it a little bigger.

Thanks for trying out Zempt. As you noticed, the application is in it’s infancy. Most of what you mention in your post is planned for future releases.
The current state of the project can be thought of as a developer preview. We haven’t announced the project anywhere except the MT Developers mailing list. Starting with the next release, things will be more useful to the general public.
We are adding more formating options, and will give the user the ability to create their own formatting. So if you wanted to have a menu option that inserts , you’ll be able to.
Most of the user options, such as configuring default categories and such, are also coming. Once we have the preferences system in place, we’ll be able to let the user choose whether to minimize to the taskbar.
Editing posts is coming in 0.3, as is spell checking.
WYSIWYG editing is also planned, but we don’t have a target date set for that yet.
Another thing planned is that the application will be available on Mac OSX and Linux, as well as Windows.
