VB.NET
To talk more geek, I’m planning on getting Visual Studio .NET in the next week or two. Waiting to get paid. The agency I work for is in dire straits financially, so I am not sure how stable my current job is.
I decided that in case I find myself in need of a new job, it would be good to be familiar with .NET. I currently program in Studio 6, so I will be taking the leap and trying to learn the new development tools. The program I briefly mentioned a while back that I’m working on, is done in VB6. I plan on attempting it in .NET when I get the software. I am actually excited about it. I think it will be beneficial for me to learn it. And if I can pull of an application that actually works, I’ll feel that I accomplished something.
So what is this program I’m working on. Well, it is a desktop interface to MT. Yes, there is w.bloggar, but it doesn’t support a lot of the features that MT offers. Namely multiple categories, editing of date/time, pinging and the extra text fields (extended/excerpt/keywords). I hope that my application will support all of these features as well as a few more. No WYSIWYG editor, but you get a preview of your post. This application is in development and will be months before it goes beta for testing, but I plan to follow it through and be able to say I created a program. Even if there are 4 others before mine gets released, I don’t care. I don’t really have a name for it yet, I’ve been calling it BlogIT. I think I need a new name though. It will be strictly for MT, though. No support for other blog software.
I just can’t wait to get .NET so I can start working on converting what I have so far. I think I enjoy this more than web design. I’m just not creative enough (IMO) for web design to be my “real” job. I feel more comfortable in the technical arena of programming. So I’ve almost completely quit doing the design/layout thing. It’s fun, but I really like programming…I know, I’m weird. I guess that’s the true techie in me.

You are a geek! LOL Can I be you when I grow up?
