Totally 80s

Written on January 17, 2003 – 2:43 pm

Dooce’s post today got me reminiscing about the good ol’ days…the 80s. I was an 80s child and I’m proud of it.

Reading her post, I remembered: my Monchichi! My strawberry shortcake doll that still smells like strawberries, care bears, smurfs, cabbage patch kids, garbage pail kids and much more.

Are you an 80s child? What do you remember?

Oh, I remember all of those! :D My cousins and I used to have stacks and stacks of garbage pail kids cards. I still have my cabbage patch dolls, but i got rid of my care bears and strawberry shortcake dolls and monchichi :( I still have Rainbow Brite though, I think. I wish I still had all of my She-Ra stuff I had gotten when I was kid. The 80’s cartoons were the best. Cartoons today just aren’t the same

I had that same strawberry shortcake doll, and I still have my cabbage patch kids :-) Austin actually got a care bear for Christmas from my mom…she said it just reminded her of me growing up.

OK. I was an 80’s teenager and of course, the thing that sticks out in my mind the most were the clothes we wore….parachute pants (GAG), izod shirts layered on top of each other…with the collar turned up, that whole Madonna look. And you can’t forget Molly Ringwald movies!

I remember the music (having graduated in ‘81 from high school)… REM, the Replacements, U2, those were great music times.
