The written word

Written on January 6, 2003 – 3:52 pm

I think that starting the written journal (or diary) was a good thing. I look forward to spending some time writing down my thoughts. It does me good to sit down and scribe with a pen or pencil. Since I graduated college 4.5 years ago, I haven’t done much writing per say. I’ve actually missed doing that. Granted it’s only my thoughts, but I am totally enjoying it. I may attempt to get back into my stories.

That is another thing…my stories. I long to be a writer. I long to write fictional, interesting stories. I can plot and develop the characters wonderfully. Yet when it comes down to actually writing the dialog between the characters or the scenery that describes the setting, I bomb. I just cannot write the actual story. I do all the character development and plot layout. I can outline each “scene” as I want it to play out, I can envision it all in my mind and the characters become real to me. But actually writing the story, filling in the details to my outline, is where I fail miserably. Maybe I need to join forces with someone who can write and let them write the details to my storylines. Let them fill in the details…put all my ideas and images into meaningful words on paper. Who knows. For now, my computer is full of character descriptions and background info, storyline ideas, plot outlines, scenery descriptions, etc… There is hardly any actual story, because I always get stuck…has anyone ever had this problem?

I wish I could do that much. My husband is always thinking of screen plays and books that need to be written and thinks I can just whip it up and make us rich. He will be talking about something and tell me I should write a book about it. LOL!

I remember way back when I first “met” you, you had a link to a page of yours that was a list of characters of a story you were writing. I can’t remember what it was about but I bookmarked it and kept coming back to see if you had updated it but I guess you took it down. Do you know what I’m talking about?

I think it would be neat if you could get that going again. Just a suggestion of course. Or maybe you could make a blog with little stories you write. I’ve been thinking about that but I don’t think I’m very good.

This has to be the longest comment I’ve ever made in somebody elses blog.
