Permission woes
I’m having some problems with my site. Apparently when I was setting up MT on my new domain, I messed up some things. I tried to use a cgiwrapper, so in the mt.cfg, I turned on the umask settings. I couldn’t get everything to work right so I moved it back to the regular cgi-bin. Well, when I moved back, I forgot to turn off the umask settings so when MT created all of my files and when I uploaded the images, they got owned by MT/webserver. I now cannot rename, delete or change permissions on them. It is so frustrating! My host has changed the permissions to 755 on some of the files, but I still cannot delete or rename them.
This is really bad. If I cannot delete anything, how do I maintain it. I can’t clean up junk on my server and it will eventually get more and more cluttered. Not good. I just don’t know what to do since MT doesn’t have a built in file manager. If it did, I bet I could go in via it and change permissions. Does anyone have any ideas how I can fix this problem? I’d rather not have to back up and have my host delete everything, then upload it back manually, although that may do the trick.
And yes, I’ve turned off umask for future posts and uploads.

Yikes! I have no clue about that. Have you tried posting about it at the MT forum? Maybe somebody might have a suggestion…
