Kelly, Kelly, Kelly

Thursday, September 5th, 2002

Woot! I think it is so exciting that Kelly is the American Idol! It’s fabulous. She so deserved it. And she was so cute last night when she was trying to sing without crying. The song was so appropriate, I’m sure it was her dream come true to win a recording contract. She sings so beautifully. It was fun watching her perform, she’s just a natural at the whole thing.

Congrats Kelly!

Missing my husband

Wednesday, September 4th, 2002

I know I don’t leave till Friday, but it’s sad to know I’ll be away for a whole week. I know I will miss my husband and baby (the dog) terribly while I’m gone. I will be out till the following Thursday!

I guess the upside to that is that I will be seeing the rest of my family this weekend!

Huricane Opal

Tuesday, September 3rd, 2002

I was there for Opal in 1994. It struck the town where I lived and went to college. I was living in an apartment, with some friends. When the power went out my husband (then my boyfriend), drove through a blackout to my parents house to wait out the storm. Good thing we did, because a tree had fallen on our duplex. The apartment next door had extensive water damage from where the tree had broken the roof and the storm had come in. When we went back to the apartment the next day, we had to turn around several times, because the paths we were trying to take to get to it had been blocked by fallen trees. It was a wreck everywhere! I lived in Orlando for 9 years and the first hurricane I witness happens when I move to Alabama! Go figure.

Gardening

Monday, September 2nd, 2002

Woot! I’ve managed to almost finish the front of the house. We planted the bushes and the fern yesterday evening. Hopefully this evening we’ll be able to get the crotons planted then all we have to do is lay out the cypress bark and the edging. We are finally almost done with it…yeah!

It really works to wait till the evening when the temperature is much cooler. Granted there are mosquitos but I don’t almost pass out from exhaustion. I’m so glad it’s done.
