Today has been a same ol Sunday kind of day. Cleaning the kitchen. Washing clothes, cleaning the floor. Not much going on today…maybe we’ll watch a movie or I’ll sit outside later (when it isn’t so hot) and read my book.
Went to the bookstore today and left disappointed. Why? Because I can’t really afford a book and there were two that I would’ve like to buy. Oh well. I’ve got 4 in the mail and about a dozen on my bookshelf that haven’t been read yet. I guess I better get out there and read the one I’m currently on so I can get cracking on the others!
Took the dog for a walk around the neighborhood. That was not the smartest thing to do. Apparently our neighborhood has a large population of big dogs (German Shepard size). Taking Sadie for a short walk stirred them all up. We started a barking frenzy. We walked by one house where the owners were outside talking and they started laughing as all the dogs started barking when we walked by.
We may not be taking her for a walk in this area anytime soon.

The family is here so I’m busy. But it’s so great when we have them over. They buy us stuff. We got a cool umbrella for the back yard and a table and chairs to match (we bought the matching table and chaits). They also bought us lunch.
Mom and I polished our toenails, then I took a picture of them. I thought it looked cute!
Saw Black Hawk Down. It was alright. I generally love war movies, but this one didn’t flip me out. But it was pretty good.
Going to watch Ocean’s Eleven yet again, since the folks haven’t seen it yet. I really love that movie so I don’t mind watching it for the umpteenth time.

Has there ever been a show that you watched religiously, then after it becoming part of your life, was cancelled? Now you are left feeling empty, like something is missing. That is the way I feel about Sunset Beach.
I fell in love with this soap opera about 2 years after it began. I got a late start watching, but was hooked from the first episode I watched. I watched it every day without missing one. I would record it. It became my favorite over Days (shocking!!). Then NBC decided to cancel it. I was devastated. I had grown to love the characters. It was as if they were my friends and they were sharing their lives with me.
Sometimes now, when I see them doing other things or read about them in magazine, I sigh. I actually miss these characters that I grew to love so dearly. I chose a mantilla as my wedding veil because one of the characters wore it for her wedding (that never took place – she was in love with her fiancĂ©’s brother; a catholic priest) and I loved the look of it. I even saved the recorded episode so I could remember it.
I do wish the show would return, but somehow I don’t think it would be the same. The actors and actresses have all moved on to other things. But I will never forget how they made me feel. It was so wonderful, I was so involved in their fictitous world. It was the best escape from my own reality (which wasn’t bad, but it’s nice to get away sometimes).
Sunset Beach will always be a great memory!

It looks like Days is headed for the extraterrestrial. Cassie and Rex, aliens from who knows where, have landed in Salem. Look for them to cause conflict in Belle and Shawn’s newly restored relationship.
Oh pooh! Just when these two had a good thing starting again, the twins have to come and mess it up. I hope it doesn’t do too much damage. I see them as the next supercouple…following in his parents (Bo and Hope) footsteps.
But, I’ve got to admit…they do make a pair, those twin do! He’s such a hottie and she is so cute! But to break up Shawn and Belle – that would be a sin!!

Our 4th of July vacation ended earlier than we expected. We ended up in Chatanooga, which was really cool. We went up to Lookout Mountain and was able to see all of the fireworks around the city. It was so awesome. Then we drove to Alabama to meet up with some friends that were camping and rock climbing, but it was so hot and the campsite had no water except the few gallon jugs we took with us…no way to shower, that we decided to come home. There wasn’t even a lake nearby that we knew of…we had thought we could just rinse off in the lake. It was so yuck. We got home at 10pm and it was almost 90 degrees out.
I was so glad to be home and take a shower. We may go out to North Carolina in a few weeks to camp…this time we’ll make sure that our campsite is near some water so we can wash up!
Saturday and Sunday was spent being extremely lazy. We watched TV (movies) most of the day. Sunday we cleaned out the truck and washed it. That was fun ‘cause we played with the hose and got soaked. Even the dog got in on it. Then we watched Shallow Hal and A Beautiful Mind. Both movies were great, but I really liked A Beautiful Mind. It was awesome. Tonight I think I will watch Kate and Leopold.

Well, I think we have decided to drive to north carolina. We’ve never been up there and we’ve got time. I think it’ll be fun…only downside is having to leave the dog in boarding. We’ll be gone for maybe 3 days and we can’t leave her alone in the backyard. She can’t go with us, because she gets car sick and isn’t potty trained (she doesn’t tell us when she needs to go…just goes wherever she is).
I’ll defintely be taking pictures so maybe when I get back, I”ll set up my photolog and add photos from this trip and from Vegas (8/01). I just got those developed and I got some pretty cool photos that I’ll have to scan in.
