Inlaws and Harry Potter

Written on May 26, 2002 – 2:58 pm

Today we’re busy with my in-laws. They decided to drive up and spend the long weekend with us to see our new house. Much fun. They got us new bed clothes, so we can now change out our sheets on occasion and not have to look at the same ones all the time.

We may be going to the movies to see Star Wars II again, as the folks haven’t yet seen it.

Of course last weekend, we bought a gas grill, so my husband has wanted to cook out almost every night this past week. I’m not complaning, that is less cooking that I have to do. Heehee! :)

Sometimes it is a good thing when your parents come to visit. My folks will be coming out next month about this same time, so we’ll get to see them as well.

My mother-in-law has left me the first three installments of the Harry Potter series for us to start reading. I know this series is all the craze, but it is fantasy and I’m not a big fan of fantasy.

What is your take on the Harry Potter craze? I will attempt to read the books; I know everyone has said they are fabulous, but I am skeptical. Is anyone else addicted to this? If you are, why attracted you to it? I’m curious as to why people find it so fascinating.

oh hey, the comments are working! :D i’ve been meaning to email you for the longest time, cuz i wanted to comment on stuff you’ve been sayin’ but like, the form wouldn’t work (for me, anyway) and of course everyone knows i’m the worst about emailing people, so i’m glad these forms work. makes it a lot easier for me. heh. anyhoo, i am a vehement protestor of the harry potter phenomenom; i refuse to read the books or watch the movie. j.k. rowling has enough money anyway. besides that, i just think it’s cheesy. you know how it goes.

i enjoyed the harry potters books very much. i enjoy reading children’s books. i probably would not have even known about it if it weren’t for all the hoopla the protestors created when the first book came out.

the books are filled with fun and shows the creative imagination of ms. rowling. there are so many other books out there that are filled with just as much fun and imagination. one example is: “charlie and the chocolate factory.”

i am not a great fan of fantasy books either, but i don’t think the harry potter series are your typical fantasy books. anyhow, i figured when i chose to read the first book, if i didn’t like it, all i had to do was put it down :-)
