Dreamweaver vs FrontPage

Written on April 2, 2002 – 8:57 am

I think I’ve decided to try to redo the site using Dreamweaver. I’ve never used it before but since so many people swear by it…I figured I’d learn it…that is if I want to be a well-rounded web developer. Once I figure it out, I can move onto UltraDev. So this weekend and maybe some during the week, I’ll be attempting to learn and use Dreamweaver. And hey, if it gets me away from FrontPage, great. Like a total ungeek, I’m going through the tutorial to get familiar with all that it has to offer. Then I will delve into it for my own stuff. I think I’ll start out small with this site, then move to my other, larger site, raynecountry. Wish me luck! If anyone wants to shed some words of advice/wisdom on using DW, please feel free.

I gather FrontPage requires extensions on your web server to provide full function of the program. Does DW require anything similar from a hosting server? Does it allow a database hookup the way that FP integrates with the Access database?

    Thanks
