Mello Yello

Tuesday, April 30th, 2002

Apparently Mello Yello has finally arrived in Canada. It seems like such a strange thing, since here in the states we’ve it’s been around since the dawn of time. I just forget that not everyone in the world has what we have in the US. So things we would consider everyday are new or unheard of in other countries.

French Doors

Sunday, April 28th, 2002

I am totally exhausted. Yesterday we installed French Doors, replacing some old sliding glass doors. It was hard work, since we had to adjust the new door to fit in the door frame. The new doors were slightly wider than the frame. It was a full day of work with several trips to Lowe’s.

Today was much less stressful, but still busy…cleaning up the mess we made yesterday! hehe. The doors look great though, and we are excited that they turned out so good considering all the work it was to get them to fit.

It saddens me slightly. With several of my favorite shows ending this season, I will have to search for new tv programs to watch next fall. My spanish soap, Amigas Y Rivales last airs on May 10. The X-Files also ends in 3 weeks.

It’s good bye to 2 shows that I have watched religiously for a long time. Thank goodness Friends will be on for one more season.

New site

Friday, April 26th, 2002

This is my first entry on my new site. The site is new, the location is new, the journal software is new. I’ve converted to Movable Type. I think this will work better. It allows me more flexibility and I don’t have to deal with Blogger’s busy servers all the time. It will take me a little while to get it working exactly as I want it to but it will get there soon. I plan to work on it this weekend a good bit so hopefully all will be up and running by early next week.

website changes

Thursday, April 25th, 2002

I’ve been doing some serious thinking and sadly I’ve come to some conclusions that will affect this site, but not in a bad way. I’ve decided I just don’t have much time to keep up with my lyrics website (raynecountry.net), so as of today, no more lyrics will be added to it. The site will stay up and be moved to a new directory on my server so everyone can still access the lyrics that are already there.

I also plan to move this site to my main host directory. The domain name will stay the same, but I’ll be adding a new domain (www.iwhispered.net). As of this month next year, the current domain will go away, leaving the new one. You will also be able to access this site using the old lyrics domain (raynecountry.net) and there will be a link on the site as to where to go to get lyrics.

Casual Lies will no longer exist either. I just don’t have the energy to work on at the moment. So major changes are coming soon! I hope to work on all this during the weekend. If I get around to it, I will also implement the new site design that I’ve been working on. Very simple but nice and clean. While working on rearranging everything, the current domain, raynebair.com, may go down. for a few minutes. Hopefully I will get all these changes done soon, along with some new sections added on to this site.

Computers can be a pain

Wednesday, April 24th, 2002

The laptop I use at work apparently doesn’t have enough memory. It has 128MB, which is standard and usually enough, but I guess the programs I use require so much that they slow my computer down. I am using a Dell Inspiron 8000 which is a pretty good computer. Hopefully I’ll get some more memory or I’ll have to go back to using a desktop which isn’t bad, just not as portable. For now though, I forced to sit and wait for programs to open, or to be in the foreground. And I can’t have Photoshop on the laptop. The only version we have here at work is a Limited Edition of 5.0. And it crashes my computer when I try to use it. On a computer that I rarely reboot, maybe once a month, I’ve had to reboot at least 3 times today. Aahh! How frustrating. Then it takes forever to start. I didn’t think I had that much stuff on it, and I’ve just finished defragmenting, uninstalling old, unused programs and deleting the extra files that are still left behind. It’s still slow! Ggrr. Oh well. At this point there isn’t much I can do about it.

It’s a shame

Tuesday, April 23rd, 2002

I’ve only been blogging for a few months now and I’ve noticed several good sites close because of issues with what has been written. I think it really is a shame that people have suffered from having their journals online. This is an easy and fun way to keep a personal website and a “diary” of sorts of our daily lives. Granted some sites can get a little too personal. These are best kept private. But for problems to arise between friends and family over it is really sad. The internet is the place for free speech, supposedly. If everyone started making issues about what’s being written online, then what good is any of it.

I can understand both sides…some things shouldn’t be shouted out for the whole world to know, but also, why can’t someone write what they feel on their own personal site? I just think it is sad when it comes down to someone having to dismantle their site because of what was written on it.

I’m back

Monday, April 22nd, 2002

Hey all! I’m back and I’m totally exhausted. It was a long drive. We sort of took the long way back through Georgia instead of going straight from FL to AL so I am wore out and don’t want to do anything but veg. I think I’ll go watch Friday’s epiosode of Amigas Y Rivales before tonight ep starts.

Off to Florida

Thursday, April 18th, 2002

Alright, I’ve come up with a new design for my site. I will be working on it this week and next. Hopefully it will be fully uploaded sometime next week. This weekend, I most likely won’t be posting. Eric and I are off to Florida to see the in-laws for the weekend. It is his birthday and we thought we’d go spend it with his family. So my access to the internet will be very limited. I may be able to check my email and that’s all. Which of course that is fine with me. Every once in a while I need a break from the computer. Maybe when I get back I’ll have some more pictures to add to the photos page. I promise that when the new layout goes live, so will the photos. I will have some up soon. My page about me will also have more information about me, so you can read up and see what we have in common!

Sadly enough, I may not even get to do the Friday Five tomorrow. Maybe, but we are leaving early so I don’t know if I’ll have enough time in the morning. As part of the new site, I may make a button for those of you who would like to link to my site that way.

Haha! Sadie (the dog) is shedding! Argh! I can’t keep the dog hair controlled. I guess that is what happens when you have a long hair pooch. Pick her up for one second and your shirt is now a dirt-colored white from all the hair. I have to start sweeping the kitchen floor daily now because of all the hair, and forget the towel in her bed! It is covered. It is no longer blue….it has turned an off-white color from all her hair.

Actually we need to start brushing her more often but she is so crazy, she can’t sit still. You pull out the brush and she has to stick her nose in it. So brushing her is definitely a chore. But if we could get in the routine of brushing her daily, by the time shedding calmed down, we’d have enough dog hair to make a coat. And white to boot…it would match perfectly the white dog hair cap we already have!

I have a meeting soon, so I better get a move on it. I’ll be back next week with a whole new site!

Stay-at-home Moms

Tuesday, April 16th, 2002

It must be nice to be a stay-at-home wife and mother. I grew up with my mother being stay-at-home for most of my childhood. I loved it. I always thought I’d be a sah mom myself someday, but I don’t think that will ever happen. My income is higher than my husband’s, so if we were to lose it, we’d be hurting. We depend on my paycheck and couldn’t afford for me to stay at home. So unless by some miracle he gets an incredibly high paying job, I’m stuck being a future working mom. And no, it’s not likely that he’ll get some magnificent high paying job. My career will always pay more than his. So my idea of being a stay-at-home mom will most likely not happen. :(

Dog is digging

Monday, April 15th, 2002

This has to be the funniest thing I’ve read in a while. It’s crazy and I’m not surprised at the amount of hits the page has received.

So, can anyone help with my problem? Our dog is digging her way out of our yard. Well, she digs everywhere but recently discovered she could dig a whole at the fence and get between the privacy fence and the chain link at the back of the yard. Any ideas on how to keep her from digging out or anywhere in the yard. I hate leaving her closed in the back part of the yard but we are afraid she’ll dig out under the gate and run off. I thought about cementing the bottom of the fence. That would be a lot of work and the prefered solution is for her to stop.

Migraines – yuck!

Sunday, April 14th, 2002

We (hubby and I) washed the cars today. After days of rain, today was beautiful, sunny, and HOT!! So we felt we should get outside and do something productive. We washed and waxed my car and washed his truck. Then of course, he wanted to drive around, showing off how clean it was. That’s a male for you!

Headaches are horrible. Especially when they won’t go away. Migraines are even worse. Today, I spent most of the afternoon with a migraine. I could barely move it hurt so bad. Several pain pills and a nap didn’t even help. You can’t even do anything, because you can’t think straight, your brain is pounding so bad. Thank goodness, It is slowly and finally going away. Maybe tomorrow I need to drink my cup of coffee. Maybe I won’t get a headache. Heehee! :)

deviantART

Thursday, April 11th, 2002

I came across deviantART yesterday while browsing and it is so neat. It is a portal of sorts where members can post their artistic creations for others to view, use, etc. There are some really beautiful graphics posted.

My desktop background came from this site…and I must confess. It is my work computer desktop, but I actually like it and it’s not totally boring so I had to post it.

I only wish I had half the talent of the people who post their art at DeviantArt. I would love to be able to create something fantastic and be able to display on a site to show everyone that I did it. Maybe at some point I’ll scan in some of the pictures from our honeymoon to the Grand Canyon and post them up for everyone to see. They really turned out wonderful…postcard good, but that was before I had a digital camera. My camera did have panoramic, so I got a lot of great panoramic shots of the Arizona desert and Red Rock Country.

The Dentist

Wednesday, April 10th, 2002

I want to know what all the fuss is about going to the dentist. So many people “fear” the dentist with a passion. I just don’t get it. To me going to the dentist is just like going to any other doctor. They poke and prod and you may be sore afterwards, but it fades and you feel better. End of story. Can someone explain what the big deal is, please.
